There be news

September 29, 2008

Interesting elections in Austria and Bavaria (to put it mildly in both cases; some stuff on those soon-ish, I hope), the continued panic in the financial world (as I write this brief post, it seems that the House of Representatives has rejected that wee bailot deal; quite where that leaves things, who knows) and the latest strangest twists in the strangest American election since 1968 or so have all combined to produce an unusual volume of “news” over the past few weeks. This is obviously a good thing as it means less attention on conference season; easily the dullest part of the political year.

Labour Factional Fight Part MCXVIII

I’m stil a little confused at what a certain small cluster of right-ish Labour M.P’s are trying to do; they all seem far too well-meaning to be willing tools of the newspaper-and-twentyfourhournews-mafia, even if all they’ve achieved with their recent idiocy is to feed the already over-fed wolves. Oh well. That’s modern politics for you, I guess.
