In news that will doubtless come as a huge shock to anyone who knows Bangor at all, O’Sheas, that utterly salubrious Irish-themed drinking establishment on the High Street, has been caught selling drinks to kids and was shut down (for six weeks) by the county council on Thursday.
The BBC have helpfully provided a photograph of the place, apparently in order to confirm any stereotypes readers might have:

Obviously not the sort of place you'd expect to sell drinks to kids
Shocking. This news is so, so shocking.

Are the pub’s gaudy colours designed to attrack the youngsters?

*attract. ‘Attrack’ sounds a bit more hostile, perhaps like in that film ‘Hot Fuzz’ when the local council implement a policy of executing all underage drinkers for giving their town a bad image!

The funny thing is that I’ve known towns that do seem to do the first half of the, er, Hot Fuzz approach to underage drinking (ie; serve them because of the Greater Good). I do worry what might happen to the youth of, say, Ludlow, if news got out of that and the town was “shamed”. Bodies all over the place, probably.
